Hivernage in pictures

Laid out under the French Protectorate as a winter resort quarter, Hivernage got the casino and hotels that made Marrakech a destination in the 1930s. Today it is the city's big-hotel and nightlife district, between the Menara gardens and the medina walls.

M Avenue, a private landscaped avenue, links the Palais des Congrès to the Menara gardens.
Menara Mall, the Palais des Congrès and most of the city's large resort hotels are here.
The Menara gardens next door, an olive grove around a great basin and pavilion, are part of the 1985 UNESCO listing.
