160 km · 3 h
Road distance measured 2026-10-28 with OpenStreetMap routing. Drive time is without stops; allow more on mountain roads.

Waterfalls about 110 m high, in three drops into the El-Abid river gorge, near the village of Tanaghmeilt in Azilal province.
The Ouzoud falls are 160 km northeast of the Medina, about 3 h each way by road. There is no direct bus: by public transport you take two shared taxis, via Azilal. A private transfer costs 1,250 MAD per car for up to 3 guests, and the Ouzoud day trip covers the return.

One way, for guests staying near the falls or going on to Beni Mellal or Fes.
The driver waits at the falls for three to four hours and drives you back. The usual choice if you sleep in Marrakech.
One taxi from Marrakech to Azilal, a second from Azilal to the falls. Fine if you stay the night; hard to do as a day trip.
Bus timetables change; check ctm.ma before you rely on it.
The first part runs northeast across flat farmland. The last part climbs into the Middle Atlas foothills on a narrower road with bends. It is a long drive for a day out, so leave Marrakech by 08:00.
Most drivers take one coffee stop on the way. The office can add a lunch stop on the way back if you ask when you book.
The driver parks near the top of the falls, where the paths start. The falls drop about 110 m in three tiers into the El-Abid gorge. Paths lead down past cafés to the pools at the base, and small boats take visitors close to the spray.
The path down is easy; the climb back up is steep in the heat. Allow three to four hours to go down, have lunch and come back up without rushing.
Ouzoud Falls from 1,250 MAD per car
The price is fixed before you travel. The office confirms it in writing.
The flow depends on the winter rain: after a wet winter the falls run full, after a dry one they thin out. Weekends are busier than weekdays, so go midweek if you can.
Summer is hot on the paths back up. Go early in the day and take water.
Wear shoes with grip: the paths near the water stay wet. Carry cash for the boats, the cafés and any local guide you hire at the top.
Children and anyone who gets carsick do better with an early start and a break on the way up. The foothill bends come at the end of a long drive.
If you want the falls in the quiet early morning, stay the night nearby and book the one-way transfer at 1,250 MAD. Guesthouses near the top of the falls are on foot from the car park; send the name with your booking.
Northeast across farmland, then up into the Middle Atlas foothills for the last part.
At the parking area near the top of the falls, where the paths start.
Ask for a photo stop or lunch on the way when you book. Short stops are free; a longer detour is added to the written price.
Yes, a long one. The drive is about 3 h each way, so plan to leave in the morning and spend three to four hours at the falls.
1,250 MAD per car for up to 3 guests, 1,650 MAD for a van up to 7 and 1,800 MAD for a minibus up to 16. For a return the same day, book the day trip instead.
