One way, in one long day, to your hotel or camp meeting point.
The same road split into easy days, with a night near the dunes and your own driver throughout.
Some journeys run via other towns or need a change. Confirm the route before you book.
Royal Air Maroc flies Casablanca–Errachidia. You still need a car from Errachidia to the dunes.
There are bus journeys, but they are long, and sources disagree on whether any run direct. Some leave in the afternoon and arrive the next morning, others go through other towns with a change. Check the current route on supratours.ma or ctm.ma before you rely on one.
A bus also drops you in the village, not at your camp. The camp arranges the last stretch by camel or 4x4.

The nearest airport with scheduled flights is Errachidia, served by Royal Air Maroc from Casablanca. From Marrakech that means a flight to Casablanca first, then a car from Errachidia south to the dunes, so it rarely beats the road.

The price is fixed before you travel. The office confirms it in writing.
Most guests sleep in the Dades valley or the Todra gorge on the way. That turns the trip into two days of five or six hours each, with time at Aït Benhaddou, Skoura and the gorge.
In one day, the driver plans fuel and lunch around Ouarzazate and Tinghir. Leave Marrakech at first light to arrive before dark.
The driver drops you at your hotel or at the meeting point your camp gives you at the edge of the Erg Chebbi dunes. Keep a small bag for the camp night and leave the big case in the car or at the hotel.
Sunset over the dunes is the reason to time your arrival; aim to reach the camp meeting point an hour or two before it.
Bring water, snacks and a warm layer for the pass. Take motion-sickness tablets before the Tichka if you need them.
From late November to early March, snow can close the pass for short spells. Message the office the day before. Merzouga trips can also end in Fes instead of Marrakech; ask for that when you book.
Over the High Atlas by the Tizi n'Tichka, east on the N10 past the Dades and Todra valleys, then south across stony desert to the dunes.
At your hotel, or at the meeting point your camp gives you at the edge of the dunes. The camp arranges the last stretch by camel or 4x4.
Ask for a photo stop or lunch on the way when you book. Short stops are free; a longer detour is added to the written price.
Yes, but it is about 10 h 10 without stops. Most guests break the drive in the Dades or Todra valley, which is how our multi-day desert trips run.
4,550 MAD per car for up to 3 guests, 5,900 MAD for a van up to 7 and 6,600 MAD for a minibus up to 16, one way.
Yes. The driver can take you from Merzouga to Fes instead of back to Marrakech. Ask the office for the price of that leg.
