Short answer
A private transfer from Marrakech airport to the medina costs 300 MAD per car for up to 3 guests, 400 MAD by van for up to 7, agreed in writing before you fly. Airport taxis leave from the rank outside arrivals; fares are agreed there and rise at night. Prices on this page are per vehicle, not per person.
Fixed prices from the airport into Marrakech
Every Marrakech district has the same price from the airport. You pay per vehicle, so three people in a sedan pay the same as one.
Medina: 300 MAD by sedan, 400 MAD by van, 600 MAD by minibus. Gueliz: 300 MAD. Hivernage: 300 MAD. Palmeraie: 300 MAD. Agdal: 300 MAD. Marrakech train station: 300 MAD.
The price includes the driver meeting you in arrivals with a name sign and following your flight if it is late. Pickups in the 23:00–04:59 window carry a 20% supplement, shown in your written price.
Longer transfers from the airport
Long-distance legs cost the same from the airport as from a hotel in town, because the airport is inside the city. A few examples by sedan: Essaouira 1,200 MAD, Agadir 1,650 MAD, Taghazout 1,800 MAD, Casablanca 1,500 MAD, Imlil 550 MAD.
Vans and minibuses cost more but carry more people, so the price per head drops as your group grows.
Every price on this page is fixed before you travel. The office confirms it in writing with the pickup details, so the price does not change if traffic is heavy or your flight is late.
How the airport taxi rank works
Official taxis wait at the rank outside the arrivals exit. Fares into the city are set locally and are often displayed at the rank, with a higher rate at night. Agree the fare before you load your bags and pay in dirhams.
Petit taxis are the small city cabs. They carry up to 3 passengers and work only inside the city. Grand taxis are larger, cover trips out of town, and usually charge per seat, with the fare agreed in advance.
Taxi or transfer: how to choose
A taxi works if you travel light, have dirhams on you and are staying in a hotel with a street entrance. Agree the fare first and you are on your way.
A booked transfer suits you better if you land at night, travel with children or more than 3 people, carry a lot of luggage, or stay in a medina riad. You know the price before you fly, someone is waiting with your name, and the driver goes to the drop-off point your riad told us about.
For groups the sums often favour the transfer. Four people need two petit taxis; one van takes up to 7 with their bags for 400 MAD to the medina.
What is not in the price
Porters who carry bags from the car into the medina are not part of the transfer. Most riads send their own staff; if a porter helps, a small tip in dirhams is normal.
Extra stops on the way, such as a supermarket or a second hotel, change the price. Tell the office when you book and it confirms the new price in writing before your trip.
Going back to the airport
The return is priced the same as the outbound leg. Send your flight time and pickup address and the office confirms the price and a pickup time in writing, with a margin for check-in.
From a medina riad the driver waits at the same drop-off point you arrived at, so allow time for the walk out with your bags.
Hiring a driver by the half or full day
If you want a car for the day rather than a single trip, a driver for half a day costs 900 MAD and a full day 1,600 MAD. You set the stops: the Jardin Majorelle, the Menara gardens, a souk run, or a mix.
Day hire suits families and anyone staying out in the Palmeraie. Send your plan for the day, with the times and the places you want to stop, and the office confirms the price in writing.
