Marrakech to Tinghir & Todra Gorge: private transfer

You cross the High Atlas by the Tizi n'Tichka to Ouarzazate. From there the N10 runs east past the palm groves and kasbahs of Skoura, then through Kalaat M'Gouna and Boumalne Dades before it reaches Tinghir.

The Todra gorge starts a short drive north of town. Its rock walls rise several hundred metres.

Skoura's palm grove is the first stop after Ouarzazate. Kalaat M'Gouna is the rose town: the Valley of Roses blooms from late April to mid-May, and the rose festival is held in early May. Book rooms early for festival week; the town has few.

Boumalne Dades is the turn for the Dades gorge. If you sleep in the Dades valley, you split the trip into two easier days.

Yes, if you can. At about 6 h 40 without stops, plus the pass, it is a tiring single day. A night in Ouarzazate or the Dades valley gives two days of a few hours each, with time to walk at each stop.

If you have to do it in one day, leave Marrakech early. The driver plans fuel and lunch stops around Ouarzazate.

The driver drops you at your hotel in town or in the gorge. Tinghir's old quarters, its long palm grove and the gorge walk fill a day.

Climbing routes in the gorge are popular; if you bring gear, tell us when you book so the vehicle has room.

Spring and autumn are the most comfortable. Summer is very hot in the oases, and winter nights are cold. Between late November and early March, snow can close the Tichka for short spells; message the office the day before.
