A small Atlantic town between El Jadida and Safi, set on a sheltered lagoon known for its oyster farms.
Oualidia is 203 km from Marrakech, about 3 h 25 by road to the Atlantic coast between El Jadida and Safi. No bus or train goes there direct from Marrakech; you change in El Jadida or Safi. A private transfer costs 1,350 MAD per car for up to 3 guests and drops you at your guesthouse by the lagoon.

One car, no change, to your door on the lagoon.
Reach El Jadida first, by bus or train via Casablanca, then take a CTM bus of about 1.5 hours down the coast. Only a few buses a day run on the last leg.
The train to Safi needs a change at Ben Guerir. From Safi, buses and grand taxis run north to Oualidia in about 1–1.5 hours.
By car you cross the farmland and plains northwest of Marrakech and reach the Atlantic at the lagoon. There are no mountains on the way.
By public transport, buses and grand taxis stop at a small car park in the middle of the village, on the main El Jadida–Safi road. From there you still need to reach your guesthouse with the bags.
The lagoon is sheltered from the open Atlantic, so the water inside is calmer than on the rest of this coast. Oyster farming here goes back to the 1950s, and several farms show you the beds.
Most people come for fish and oysters by the water. Ask your guesthouse which farms take visitors that week.

The price is fixed before you travel. The office confirms it in writing.
Late June to early September is the busy season. Book your room and the transfer early for those weeks.
Out of season the town is quiet. Bring a jacket at any time of year: the Atlantic coast is cooler and windier than Marrakech.
Oualidia sits between El Jadida and Safi, so it combines well with a night in El Jadida or a run on to Casablanca. Send the dates and the office quotes each leg in writing.
Leave Marrakech in the morning and you arrive in time for lunch by the lagoon. The road crosses open farmland with no passes, so it is an easy drive with children.
Many guesthouses sit on lanes above the lagoon. Send the name and map pin with your booking so the driver goes straight to the door. A sedan takes 3 guests and 3 large suitcases; a family with more bags needs the van at 1,750 MAD.
Northwest across farmland and plains to the Atlantic coast.
At your guesthouse or hotel by the lagoon.
Ask for a photo stop or lunch on the way when you book. Short stops are free; a longer detour is added to the written price.
