Marrakech to Ouirgane: private transfer

You cross the plain south of Marrakech, then the road climbs through the Moulay Brahim gorge, your first close view of the mountains. Asni is the next town; after it the road follows the valley to Ouirgane and its river.

The R203 bends a lot once it leaves the plain. If anyone in your party gets carsick, sit in the front and ask the driver for a stop at Asni.

Asni holds a weekly market on Saturdays, with farmers from the surrounding villages selling produce, herbs and honey. It makes a good half-hour stop if you travel that day. Parking near the market gets tight on a Saturday, so the driver may drop you and wait down the road.

Imlil is a short side trip from Asni if you want lunch at the foot of Toubkal. Ask for it when you book; the office adds it to the written price.

Ouirgane is a spread-out valley, not one village street. Country hotels and lodges sit on both sides of the river, several on dirt tracks off the R203. Send the map pin with your booking.

Most guests come to walk. Lodges arrange local guides for valley walks; book them direct with the lodge.

Beyond Ouirgane the R203 climbs to the Tizi n'Test pass and down to Taroudant. The pass can close after heavy snow, mostly between November and March, and there have been long repair works on this stretch since the September 2023 earthquake. If you plan to continue south, ask the office about the road the day before.

Spring and autumn are the best months for walking. In summer the valley stays cooler than Marrakech, so a few nights here break up a hot July or August in the city.
