Morocco's capital, on the UNESCO list since 2012 as a modern capital and historic city, with the Kasbah of the Udayas and the unfinished Hassan Tower.
Rabat is 319 km from Marrakech, about 3 h 35 on the toll motorway past Casablanca. Direct trains take about 3 hours 40 minutes from Marrakech station. A private transfer costs 2,000 MAD per car for up to 3 guests and takes you to the door of your hotel, embassy or office.

Door to door, with a stop in Casablanca if you ask.
Direct trains run from Marrakech to Rabat Ville through the day. The high-speed Al Boraq does not serve Marrakech.
Rarely the better choice on this route when the train runs direct.
The train runs direct to Rabat Ville in about 3 hours 40 minutes, so for one person with a light bag it is hard to beat. The station is central, but you still need a taxi to most addresses.
For a family or a group with bags, one vehicle takes everyone door to door: 2,000 MAD by sedan for up to 3, 2,600 MAD by van for up to 7. For business travellers, the car also means you can work on the way and arrive at the right building.
The toll motorway runs north across the plains to Casablanca, passes round the city and continues up the coast to Rabat. The whole route is motorway with service areas; most drivers stop once.
Casablanca's ring road is the slow part at rush hour. A mid-morning start from Marrakech avoids the worst of it.

The price is fixed before you travel. The office confirms it in writing.
The motorway passes Casablanca, so a stop at the Hassan II Mosque or for lunch on the Corniche adds little distance. Tell the office how long you want to stop and it adds the time to the written quote.
The driver drops you at your hotel, embassy, office or home address. For a guesthouse in the medina or the Kasbah of the Udayas, the car stops at the nearest gate; the lanes inside are narrow and some are stepped.
Rabat's sights are close together: the Kasbah of the Udayas above the sea, and the Hassan Tower, the minaret of a 12th-century mosque that was never finished.
If you have an appointment, give the office the time you need to arrive. It works back from the drive time and the Casablanca traffic to set the pickup.
A pickup between 23:00–04:59 carries a 20% supplement.
Delegations and families travel together in the van, 2,600 MAD for up to 7, or the minibus, 2,900 MAD for up to 16. The price is per vehicle, and the office confirms it in writing before the trip.
